About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to perform duties related to supervising the daily operations of an assigned unit or court support function within the Fulton County court system. Responsibilities include coordinating and/or scheduling court proceedings, hearings, court appearances, and jury duty; and supervising assigned staff. This classification is distinguished from Court Support Supervisor II in that this class supervises the daily operations of an assigned unit within a court system division, whereas the latter manages the operations of multiple units or an entire division.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Supplemented by vocational or technical training in administration, criminal justice, or a related field
  • Five years of experience working in a court system or legal profession
  • Including two (2) years of supervisory experience
  • Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Affirmation as a sworn Deputy Clerk of the Court and Notary Public Certification issued by the Clerk of Superior Court (within the county of residence).
  • Additionally may be required to possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License according to position assignment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff: participates in hiring and/or termination decisions/recommendations; compiles and reviews timesheets; processes employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; assists with or completes employee performance appraisals; directs work; acts as a liaison between employees and management; and trains staff in operations, policies, and procedures, or coordinates training opportunities for staff.
  • Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; prioritizes and schedules work activities in order to meet objectives; ensures that subordinates have the proper resources needed to complete the assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned staff to assist with complex/problem situations and provide technical expertise; and provides progress and activity reports to management.
  • Supervises/provides customer service to internal and external customers: answers telephone and greets walk in customers; provides information and assistance with filing of documents and court procedures; and directs customers to other departments or individuals as needed.
  • Advises departmental managers, County officials, attorneys, and the general public, County officials, and attorneys of court and/or departmental guidelines and matters regarding operations, management, evaluation, and administration of the Court System; implement changes in operations resulting from new laws and regulations; and works with other court agencies to develop inter-departmental policies.
  • Assists with the preparation and administration of assigned court division budget as required; and monitors and approves expenditures in compliance with approved budget.
  • Oversees departmental procurement and accounting activities: participates in the ordering and procurement of unit supplies; and reviews/approves accuracy of invoices and receipt of ordered supplies.
  • Coordinates and supervises special court programs as required: prepares reports on court programs, activities, projects, and the future direction of certain court processes.
  • Audits accounting and unit work processes and prepares reports on unit activities and related court issues.
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures: receives and reviews various documentation, including daily balance reports, bonds, receiving reports, court orders, invoices, and timesheets; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including financial reports, spreadsheets, Fi Fa's, legal documents, and personnel related documents; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
