About The Position

The Fairbanks In-Court Division of the Alaska Court System (ACS) is accepting applications for a Court Supervisor 4 (salary range 15). This position is responsible for the management and supervision of the Fairbanks in-court clerk department and manages all clerical functions of the courtroom operations. Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency may receive consideration for advance step placement. Personnel rules will be applied to determine step placement for the successful internal candidate. Requirements

Experience in supervision, management, or team lead.
Experience in training and evaluating employees.
Experience or knowledge of legal procedures.
Experience performing multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and remaining calm, organized, and accurate.
Ability to analyze facts and apply the policies, rules and procedures to situations not previously encountered.
Ability to make difficult or complex decisions within the scope of the applicable policies and procedures, and be able to use independent judgment in so doing.
Ability to handle stressful and sometimes hostile or graphic situations with tact and diplomacy.
Experience in providing excellent customer service, both in person and over the telephone.
Highly skilled with various court system technology applications, including CourtSmart, CourtView, OnBase, BI Launch Pad, and Trakman.
Experience dealing with high-priority, confidential, or sensitive information.
Outstanding work habits regarding attendance, punctuality, dependability and leave usage.
Experience drafting and preparing letters, orders, memoranda, and other professional documents.
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND two years of legal office clerical work experience which includes six months of supervisory or lead experience.
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND four years of office clerical work experience which includes six months of supervisory or lead experience.
A bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college AND six months of supervisory or lead experience.
Legal office clerical work experience includes service such as a Court Case Manager 1, Courtroom Judicial Assistant, Court Case Manager 2, Court Supervisor 1-3, or Chambers Judicial Assistant) with the Alaska Court System, or work in a public or private sector law office requiring the review and processing of legal documents.
Additional general office clerical experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.
Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required general office clerical work experience on a month-for-month basis.

Responsibilities

Supervises and supports court clerk staff by directing daily work, managing staffing and scheduling, overseeing recruitment and hiring, conducting performance evaluations, and addressing employee performance and conduct issues.
Develops and implements training programs, performance standards, and job documentation; coordinates leave and payroll records; and works with Human Resources to support personnel actions, ensuring a skilled, productive, and well-trained workforce.
Supervises and coordinates the daily operations of the in-court clerk department, including staff assignments, performance oversight, records and exhibit management, appeals processing, and audio records requests.
Ensures compliance with court rules, statutes, administrative policies, and procedural standards; develops and updates departmental procedures and resource materials; monitors case and statistical reports for accuracy; coordinates with court departments and external agencies; maintains customer service standards; and provides operational recommendations to improve efficiency and support court operations.
Provides backup support for District and Superior Court proceedings, performs audio duplication and case archival preparation, and assumes the duties of subordinate positions as needed.
Assists the public and other court departments, supports specialized court initiatives and projects, and performs other related duties as assigned.
