About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to develop, implement, and supervise alternatives to traditional prosecution programs. This role involves supervising staff, managing caseloads, determining offender eligibility, and advising on program requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work or related field
  • Five years of experience in diversion programs, education, social work, or related field
  • Includes supervisory experience
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, including work schedules, timesheets, concerns, problems, counseling, discipline, performance appraisals, and training.
  • Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; schedules work activities to meet objectives; ensures subordinates have necessary resources; monitors work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with staff on complex situations and provides technical expertise; provides progress reports; assists with revising procedure manuals.
  • Researches evidence-based practices for alternative prosecution programs through library, periodical, and web-based searches.
  • Monitors caseloads of felony offenders, reviews offender information, case notes, attendance records for classes, and monthly progress notes; addresses inconsistencies between program requirements and actual participation.
  • Leads staff meetings, facilitates meeting agendas, makes initial recommendations, and negotiates sanctions in outcomes.
  • Determines offender eligibility, participation, and subsequent termination; consults and advises attorneys on case-program matches; monitors participation; and determines situations for program termination.
  • Advises attorneys, defendants, and the general public on program requirements; responds to inquiries regarding program information; and creates presentations on program requirements.
