The Superior Court, the trial court of general jurisdiction for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, is committed to delivering high quality justice in a timely and fair manner in accordance with the rule of law. This position is posted trial court wide and works under the direction of a Department Head or their designee. The role involves recording courtroom proceedings, monitoring FTR recording equipment, and troubleshooting issues. It requires ensuring microphone operability, keeping detailed log notes, creating and maintaining witness, exhibit, and identification lists, and ensuring confidential information is removed from recordings. The position also staffs court proceedings, prepares typewritten materials from recordings, announces, marks, and retrieves exhibits, maintains daily criminal lists, reviews audio requests, processes transcript orders, and performs general office duties. Additionally, it assists court sessions by recording events, scheduling dates, and generating forms, as well as performing clerical work like docketing and processing pleadings. Daily checks of software and systems are required, along with troubleshooting. The role is responsible for the Williams AV “Whisper” system and educating users, and acts as a liaison with the recording vendor, For The Record, to resolve equipment and software issues. Other duties as required.
