About The Position

This is a temporary position, initially lasting until August 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension based on operational needs. It may be filled as a developmental underfill at the Court Operations Clerk job profile level. The Oregon Judicial Department (OJD) serves the public, often assisting individuals facing challenging life circumstances. This role impacts community members resolving their cases in court. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Proficiency providing tactful and professional customer service to a variety of individuals or clients who are facing challenging life circumstances in a busy professional setting.
  • Proficiency using computers to access and input information and to complete a variety of tasks; computer use should be recent and regular.
  • Skill performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict, and often competing, deadlines in a fast-paced office setting, to include high-volume scheduling.
  • Skill explaining processes, procedures, or policies.
  • Skill meeting deadlines despite frequent interruption while working independently or within a team.
  • Skill reviewing documents for accuracy, content, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Experience identifying and safeguarding confidential information and materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a court or legal environment is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the Oregon Judicial Department’s Jury Management System to process and maintain accurate juror records.
  • Respond to inquiries from jurors and court staff, providing timely and clear information.
  • Check in jurors upon arrival and assist with completing online forms as needed.
  • Review and analyze juror responses and requests, complying with statutes, policies, and procedural criteria.
  • Assist the jury coordinator with all jury-related functions, including conducting jury draws, determining juror numbers, providing orientation to prospective jurors, and creating daily verbal messages for jurors.
  • Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

  • Temporary-status employees may be eligible for insurance benefits under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), and in accordance with Public Employee Benefit Board (PEBB) eligibility rules, and OJD Health Insurance under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 Policy, No. 040.50.06.
  • Temporary status employees who, upon hire, are expected to work an average of 30 or more hours per week will be eligible for benefits on the first of the fourth month of employment.
  • Temporary status employees who work full-time accrue 6.14 hours of sick leave per full calendar month, which can be used as soon as it is credited.
  • Eligible employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
