The Multnomah County Circuit Court is hiring a Central Public Service Clerk (Court Operations Associate). In this role… You will greet customers, assess their needs, and provide them with guidance for their next steps to ensure that they can successfully complete their court business. You will start new cases and accept, review for accuracy and completeness, and process documents for a variety of case types based on established business processes. You will process violations cases at the customer service counter helping customers navigate their choices. You will also look up, print, certify, and take payments for court records. Additionally, you will process payments that are made to each unit of the court in person, over the phone, and through the mail. You will balance and account for all payments, negotiate payment plan terms with customers, initiate and monitor collections activities for court-imposed obligations. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs. We welcome all candidates who are inspired by our work and mission .

Requirements

  • The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent AND At least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents OR Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks that included using a computer to enter and retrieve information, meeting strict deadlines, and maintaining accuracy when interrupted or distracted by a noisy work setting.
  • Experience responding professionally to customers or clients who are facing challenging life circumstances, stressful situations, or trauma.
  • Experience handling cash or other monetary transactions, generating receipts, and crediting accounts.
  • Experience reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Experience identifying and safeguarding confidential information and materials.

Benefits

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees [OR up to 99% of medical insurance premiums for part-time employees], including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $26.19 - $40.63.
