About The Position

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years of clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks that included using a computer to enter and retrieve information, meeting strict deadlines, and maintaining accuracy when interrupted or distracted by a noisy work setting.
  • Experience explaining processes, procedures, or policies.
  • Experience responding professionally to customers or clients who are facing challenging life circumstances, stressful situations, or trauma.
  • Experience reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Experience identifying and safeguarding confidential information and materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Help self-represented litigants navigate complex case issues and complete their legal documents.
  • Accept, review, and create court pleadings and new cases.
  • Schedule court hearings.
  • Provide an overview of court forms and processes.
  • Help litigants and attorneys use the court system.
  • Provide educational materials and referrals for a variety of legal and other resources available to parents and children.
  • Provide support in person, over video, on the telephone, and in writing.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on family law processes for judges, court staff, attorneys, and the public.
  • Provide recommendations and feedback on program efficiencies.
  • Help implement changes.
  • Prepare statistical and informational reports about the Family Law Assistance Program for the Trial Court Administrator, judges, and court staff.
  • Spend part of the time cross-training on all aspects of court operations.
  • Provide training to others as needed.
  • Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.
