About The Position

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years of clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks that included using a computer to enter and retrieve information, scheduling meetings, meeting strict deadlines, and maintaining accuracy when interrupted or distracted by a noisy work setting.
  • Experience explaining processes, procedures, or policies.
  • Experience providing customer service to a variety of individuals in challenging circumstances.
  • Experience reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Experience identifying and safeguarding confidential information and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Help self-represented litigants navigate domestic relations case issues.
  • Provide an overview of court forms and processes to determine which forms are needed.
  • Meet with self-represented litigants in person and remotely to help them fill out their documents, make sure their paperwork is complete, and provide information about available resources and educational materials.
  • Perform data entry, draft judgments and prepare them for a judge’s signature.
  • Attend ex parte and status conferences to provide case information to judges and court staff.
  • Explain court procedures and local court rules that apply to a litigant’s situation for local and regional programs.
  • Schedule appointments for document review.
  • Respond to questions about family law cases.
  • Sort and prepare self-help form packets.
  • Spend occasional time attending meetings and training sessions.
  • Help the Family Court Coordinator and management staff by suggesting improvements to program procedures.
  • Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.
