This is an amazing opportunity for a detail orientated team player with a strong customer service background. Court experience is preferred. HIRING RANGE FOR THIS POSITION IS $25.71-$36.00/HOUR. The full salary range for this position is $25.71-$36 .00. This position is full-time with benefits and is an hourly position. The schedule is Monday through Friday 8am-5pm, in office, with some evening and weekend work. This position is not eligible to work remotely. Under general supervision, this position provides clerical, administrative, and operational support to Municipal Court operations while serving as a key point of contact for citizens and other customers. This position also coordinates and supports the Teen Court program by recruiting, training, managing, and supervising youth volunteers and assisting with the planning and facilitation of Teen Court sessions.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by three (3) years of experience working in a clerical, customer service, or a related field.
  • Experience in a court or legal environment preferred.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Colorado for the type of vehicle or equipment operated; safe driving record and a minimum of two (2) years of driving history.
  • Possession or the ability to readily obtain and maintain Colorado Bureau of Investigation access within thirty (30) days of employment.
  • Knowledge of state and local laws pertaining to municipal court records.
  • Knowledge of open records and confidentiality requirements regarding municipal court records and documents.
  • Knowledge of the basic elements of the criminal justice system.
  • Knowledge of routine court procedures, terminology, and case-flow management principles.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and accounting principles.
  • Skill in the use of computers and various software programs.
  • Skill in performing accurate data entry and records retrieval.
  • Skill in cash handling.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to apply ordinances and statutes to routine matters such as dismissing summonses and monitoring deferred sentences.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement involving customer service requests and assignments.
  • Ability to prepare, organize, and maintain complex filing systems.
  • Ability to compile information and prepare detailed reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 35 WPM accurately.
  • Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines, scanners or multi-line telephone systems.
  • Ability to provide a positive customer service experience.
  • Ability to successfully pass a preemployment background including but not limited to criminal history search, employment and reference verification, fingerprints and CJIS certification through the Parker Police Department.

Responsibilities

  • Performs courtroom and case management support functions, including preparing courtrooms, scheduling hearings, preparing dockets, issuing juror notifications, arranging accommodations, processing citations, and managing witness sequestration.
  • Maintains and updates court records, including case files, sealings, and expungements in accordance with legal and retention requirements.
  • Assists with bench and jury trials by preparing materials, issuing jury selection notices and questionnaires, and supporting courtroom proceedings.
  • Collects fines, fees, and bond payments; prepares required financial reports; and reconciles daily cash transactions.
  • Conducts electronic data exchanges and system transactions, including with the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles; accesses the Colorado State Courts (CSC) system, Colorado Crime Information Center (CCIC), and related systems to obtain records and enter or vacate warrants; maintains required access credentials or certifications.
  • Coordinates with the Parker Police Department and other agencies regarding inmate status and transportation; processes writs of transport as required.
  • Provides accurate court and case information to defendants, attorneys, law enforcement, and the public in accordance with open records laws and confidentiality requirements.
  • Coordinates and administers Teen Court and supervision programs, including case intake, eligibility screening, monitoring compliance, maintaining program documentation, and tracking required hours and outcomes.
  • Recruits, trains, and supports Teen Court participants and volunteers, including youth attorneys, jurors, bailiffs, mentors, and adult attorney judges.
  • Promotes the Teen Court program through outreach, presentations, and recruitment efforts.
  • Refers defendants to appropriate resources or social service agencies to support sentencing requirements and notifies appropriate parties of non-compliance.
  • Maintains the confidentiality and security of sensitive information in accordance with Town policy and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Provides cross-coverage for all Municipal Court positions as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
