About The Position

The City of Edinburg in Edinburg, TX is actively seeking a dedicated Deputy Court Clerk to perform a variety of clerical functions in the Municipal Court for court operations. Requirements

  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalency
  • One (1) year experience of clerical experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
  • Must be able to type 30 WPM
  • Must have a current and valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attentive to detail

  • Dependability is a strength

Nice To Haves

  • Community college, vocational business, technical or correspondence school certificates
  • One (1) year of experience in court procedures or in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Responding to customers regarding legal options to satisfy cases, including fines, trials or hearings, driver's safety, deferred dispositions, warrants, extensions, and posting of bonds.
  • Updating case files in the Court's case management system as contact is made with customers, judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, witnesses and others.
  • Preparing and processing traffic and parking citations filed by the Edinburg Police Department and other agencies.
  • Monitoring cases for compliance.
  • Processing cases in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Preparing documentation for the judge and prosecutor.
  • Administering oaths and preparing complaints, summons and subpoenas.
  • Running reports, gathering files and information, taking payments, performing customer service related duties, and other duties as required.
  • Providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed.
