About The Position

Under close supervision, performs a variety of specialized general clerical duties in support of the Municipal Court operation including the initiation, processing and maintenance of legal documents, correspondence and statistics, cashiering and customer service. As a Court Clerk I, you will: Create and maintain official court records; research cases; prepare and issue court documents; make certified copies and process records requests. Collect and prepare all documentation required for court proceedings; accept and file court documents. Assist the public in person and by phone including retrieving information and files, and providing general information regarding scheduling of court dates, defensive driving, warrants and granting extensions; assist the public in problem solving and research activities. Receive, reconcile, and verify payments and bond monies; prepare financial reports; process payments of various tender types and from multiple sources; establish payment plans; monitor payment records; and perform mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy. Enter accurate data into an automated information system, create and update cases, process, record, locate and retrieve files or documents, and perform routine file maintenance. Assist judicial officers in the courtroom during court proceedings. Prepare and process marriage license applications, once deputized by the Clerk of the Superior Court. Maintain confidentiality of court proceedings, files, and documents. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two (2) years of general clerical work experience requiring public contact and the interpretation of rules and regulations
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License at the time of appointment
  • Arizona Committee of Judicial Education and Training (COJECT) yearly accreditation
  • Residency in the United States and within 25 miles of the City of San Luis
  • Must be able to type 30 wpm
  • Must pass a fingerprint check prior to employment
