About The Position

Under the general direction of the Court Administrator, the Court Clerk creates and maintains accurate written records of Clallam County District Court I proceedings and manages court documents and exhibits. Responsibilities include preparing detailed minutes, processing court documents and orders, safeguarding evidence and exhibits, administering oaths and designated tests, and performing audio and video functions. The position requires sound judgment, attention to detail, confidentiality, clear communication, and the ability to work independently while following applicable laws, court procedures, and ethical standards.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge of the field of assignment sufficient to perform thoroughly and accurately the full scope of responsibility
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Computer knowledge and ability
  • Minimum of three years of secretarial or advanced clerical work experience preferred (for Court Clerk I)
  • Minimum of five years of secretarial or advanced clerical work experience preferred (for Court Clerk II)
  • Great deal of computer knowledge and ability (for Court Clerk II)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as Court Clerk I and/or Court training preferred (for Court Clerk II)

Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate, detailed minutes for all court proceedings
  • Identify, number and keep all court exhibits safe
  • Prepare and/or process documents and orders for signing, filing and including in court files
  • Perform specific audio and video functions
  • Follow courtroom procedures and instructions to maintain a smooth and routine court
  • Take custody of and store guns, knives, narcotics, cash, jewelry, clothing and other materials used as evidence
  • Handle multiple-step transactions such as receiving and/or issuing receipts, forms, cash and documents
