The position is responsible for the full management of jury processes, including maintaining and updating petit and grand jury panel lists, summoning deferred jurors, and processing routine requests for deferral or excusal. More complex jury matters are routed to the Judge or Magistrate for decision. The role requires adherence to the Jury Clerk’s Manual to ensure proper record-keeping and procedural compliance. Additional jury-related duties include coordinating travel and lodging for grand jurors traveling from remote areas and reviewing associated expenses before forwarding them to the Clerk of Court for approval. This position also oversees all aspects of small claims case management. Responsibilities include opening, monitoring, and closing cases, reviewing filings for completeness and compliance, assigning case numbers, issuing summonses, and entering case details into the court's database. The clerk manages correspondence throughout the life of a case, ensures timely issuance and distribution of court orders and notices, and completes all necessary steps for case closure both digitally and in physical files. Financial responsibilities include closing daily tills, running financial reports, and making deposits. The clerk receipts payments into correct account codes for a variety of court-related fees and fines, such as civil orders, certified mailings, executions, sanctions, and restitution. Customer service is also a key component of this role. The clerk assists the public at the front counter and by phone, provides necessary paperwork and filing instructions, and supports record searches through digital and physical indexes. Additional duties include retrieving files, certifying court documents, and notarizing signatures when required.
