The Peter Guo-hua Fu School of Architecture at McGill University is seeking applications for two Course Lecturer positions for the Fall 2026 term. The course, ARCH 201 / Communication, Behavior & Architecture, is a U1 studio focusing on the introduction to design, development of design judgment, and communication skills. Students will engage with concepts of light, scale, space, form, and color in the built environment, alongside techniques for oral and graphic presentation, including model making, photography, sketching, and architectural drawing. The course is studio-based and includes lectures, seminars, and field trips. It aligns with Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) Student Performance Criteria (SPC) A1, A2, and A3. The studio explores formal systems and architectural fictions, encouraging students to develop generative design methods, translate between different formats (drawings, models), and resolve architectural form with respect to materials and construction. Narrative and worldbuilding will be used as tools for understanding architectural contexts and inhabitants. Instructors will collaborate closely with colleagues and administration to finalize scope, schedule, and assignments, ensuring alignment with the University Calendar, pedagogical objectives, and CACB-SPC. This is a team-taught studio, meaning instructors may work with multiple student groups.
