About The Position

This position is for a Course Lecturer for RUSS 333 - Petersburg: City of Myth (3 credits) section 001, for the Fall 2026 term at McGill University's Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. The course examines Russian culture within the context of the city of Saint-Petersburg, exploring its representation of Russian culture's past and future, and how the city's culture redefines its meaning. The assignment includes preparation, delivery, and evaluation of the course, submitting reports, supervision of teaching assistants, reviewing grades, and meeting with students. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Russian
  • Native or near native fluency in English
  • Knowledge of Russian
  • A minimum of two semesters as instructor of a course at a similar level
  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec
  • English communication both verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

  • preparation of the Course and Course plan
  • delivery of the Course
  • evaluation of students
  • submitting to the University a report on student attendance and student grades
  • supervision of Teaching Assistants or any other teaching support staff
  • upon request, review of their students’ grades
  • meeting with students, being available to answer questions and give advice concerning Course content and requirements
