About The Position

An introduction to the sociological tradition of crime and deviance theory from the late 18th century (Classical School) to approximately the 1960s (emergence of labeling theory). Schools of thought to be covered include Classical Criminology, positivism, the Chicago School, subcultural theories, differential association and learning theories, Anomie and strain, control theories, and symbolic interaction/labeling.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree
  • MA in Criminology or Sociology
  • CV (Maximum of 10 pages, with 12-point font and 2.54 cm margins)
  • Candidate Application Form (CAF - Appendix I)
  • Proof of academic credentials for highest degree (for external applicants)
  • Name and contact information for referees (for external applicants)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience in theory is an asset
  • PhD or ABD preferred
  • Teaching Dossier and/or relevant supplementary documentation (Maximum of 25 pages in total, with 12-point font and 2.54 cm margins)
