Course Coordinator COSC 1P02 - Fall D2
About The Position
This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for the position of Course Coordinator for COSC 1P02 - Fall D2. The Course Coordinator will report to the Department Chair or Course Instructor and will be responsible for overseeing seminar/tutorial/lab sections, coordinating Teaching Assistants, assisting in the preparation of marking schemes, coordinating the marking of assignments and exams, and performing other related duties as required by the course instructor. Compensation for this role is based on qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour, effective September 1, 2026. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
Requirements
- Must have sound knowledge of any software (such as IntelliJ, Dr. Java, JCreator), which is directly or indirectly used within COSC 1P02 as outlined in the course description within the Brock University Undergraduate calendar and/or course outlines supplied by the instructor.
- Must have completed COSC 1P02, COSC 1P03 and COSC 2P03 (or equivalents), and achieved the grade of 75% or higher in all
- Must be familiar with Brock Java Library
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
- Available during regular office hours for group meetings and labs
- Available after office hours to provide general consultations
- High level of interpersonal skills and effective verbal communication skills
- Academic integrity and professionalism.
Nice To Haves
- Previous Course Coordinator experience is an asset
- Previous successful teaching/marking experience in computer science
Responsibilities
- Overseeing the seminar/tutorial/lab sections for a particular course
- Coordinating Teaching Assistants/Lab Demonstrators/Marker-Graders and holding meetings with them
- Assisting in the preparation of marking schemes
- Coordinating the marking of course assignments and/or midterm, progress and final exams
- Performing any other related duties as may be required by the course instructor
