About The Position

Georgia Northwestern Technical College is seeking a part-time Courier for its Floyd County Campus. The position requires travel to other campuses to meet operational needs and reports to the Director of Facilities Management. The Courier transports mail and materials between campuses using a vehicle and maintains the vehicle. This is an on-campus position with no telework option.

Requirements

Possess a Class C Georgia motor vehicle operator’s license.
Operate vehicles carefully and competently while following traffic laws.
Have excellent vision and hand-eye coordination for safe driving.
Safely operate a two-way radio and/or cellular telephone.
Recognize equipment defects that may affect safety.
Perform pre-trip vehicle safety inspections.
Know traffic laws and take appropriate security precautions with packages.
Have interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with the public.

Nice To Haves

Two or more years of experience as a courier.
Ability to work unsupervised, with an emphasis on punctuality.

Responsibilities

Operate a motor vehicle to transport mail and materials.
Assist with loading and unloading packages, goods, and materials.
Report accidents, incidents, or vehicle breakdowns and arrange towing or alternate transportation when needed.
Perform or assist with preventive vehicle maintenance, including checking fuel, oil, and battery.
Record required information, such as mileage, fuel consumption, passenger information, and maintenance or repair needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
