About The Position

The Courier Driver manages pickups and deliveries of medical and nonmedical items—including supplies, mail, medical records, x-rays, laboratory specimens, financial documents, and related paperwork—between Pocono Medical Center, physicians’ offices, the Cancer Center, and other off-campus locations. The role includes loading, unloading, preparing, and inspecting the delivery vehicle to optimize deliveries, as well as maintaining the vehicle according to departmental policies and warranty specifications. The driver also oversees emergencies during non-business hours on an alternating schedule and is cross-trained with Shuttle Drivers and Valet Attendants.

This is an onsite position at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono, scheduled Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The position is classified as a day shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to operate a manual-transmission vehicle.
• Pennsylvania driver's license required upon hire.
• Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Manage pickups and deliveries of medical and nonmedical supplies, mail, medical records, x-rays, laboratory specimens, financial documents, and related paperwork.
• Load and unload the delivery vehicle and prepare and inspect it to optimize deliveries.
• Oversee emergencies during non-business hours on an alternating schedule.
• Maintain vehicles by following departmental policies for servicing, fueling, and washing, in accordance with vehicle warranty specifications.
• Transport laboratory specimens, x-rays, and related paperwork among the Medical Center, physicians’ offices, the Cancer Center, and other off-campus locations.
• Transport financial documents, mail, and records between the Finance Department and Medical Center.
• Transport mail and other supplies between the United States Post Office, Medical Center, and off-campus locations.
• Cross-train with Shuttle Drivers and Valet Attendants.
