County Social Services Aide 3 (Local Government)

This position helps deliver supportive services to families where child abuse or neglect has been identified. The work focuses on short-term assistance, direct support, and maintaining communication with workers and families. Requirements
- One year as a County Social Services Aide 2; or Graduation from high school, or its equivalency, and three years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which included one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information; or An associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences, and one year of experience in a human services agency; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Meet the PA residency requirement.
- Be able to perform essential job functions.
- Pass a background investigation.
- Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
Responsibilities
- Support families by accepting tasks assigned by supervisors and responding to needs that may require extended or flexible hours
- Meet with workers during special circumstances to clarify tasks and roles in family situations
- Assist families with obtaining food, clothing, household items, housing, job training, or employment
- Transport clients to appointments, visits, and other required locations and be available for emergency transportation when needed
- Monitor family visits and provide observations to assigned workers on an ongoing basis
- Help workers with home visits, placements, document filing, uploading, and maintaining case files
