About The Position

The County Caseworker 1 position with the Northumberland County Intellectual/Developmental Services Program supports individuals with intellectual and developmental needs. The role involves gathering information, helping people access services and benefits, supporting personal goals, and promoting safety and stability in the community. The position is full-time, with hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and a 30-minute lunch. Telework is not available.

Requirements

• Meet one of the stated experience and education pathways: two years as a County Social Services Aide 3 plus two years of college coursework including 12 credits in specified or related social sciences; a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 12 such credits; or an equivalent combination that includes the required 12 credits and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar paraprofessional case-management position.
• Applicants within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits may be considered to have met the educational requirements.
• Be able to perform the essential job functions.
• Pass a background investigation. A conditional offer requires satisfactory criminal history clearances, including PA State Police, PA Child Abuse history, and FBI Fingerprint clearances.

Responsibilities

• Prepare individualized service plans describing goals and needed services.
• Assist individuals in completing applications for available benefit programs.
• Lead meetings to review consumer progress in identified goal areas.
• Arrange community-based supports, such as budgeting guidance, social skill development, and daily living assistance.
• Maintain records and files that support continuity of care and advocacy.
• Provide immediate assistance during emergencies as directed by supervisory staff.
