About The Position

We are looking for a hands-on Country Manager to grow and run Mercuryo's US business unit. You will own the US backlog, coordinate contributors across departments, manage key external relationships, and keep the unit executing with speed and clarity. This role sits at the intersection of strategy and delivery. You set the direction, build the partnerships, and make sure the team follows through — reassigning and re-prioritizing without hesitation when things aren't moving. The ideal candidate knows crypto from the inside, has managed distributed remote teams, and thrives in environments where structure needs to be created, not inherited.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in financial services, with at least 5 in a leadership role in crypto, fintech, or banking.
  • Deep understanding of the US regulatory environment for financial services and crypto.
  • Proven track record of building and managing cross-functional or distributed remote teams.
  • Strong backlog management and prioritization instincts — you've run complex workstreams with multiple stakeholders and kept things moving.
  • Established network in the US crypto and fintech ecosystem.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Self-starter who creates structure rather than waiting for it.
  • High comfort with ambiguity, fast pace, and changing priorities.
  • Challenger mindset — you question the default and push for better.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the US business unit strategy, aligned with Mercuryo's global roadmap.
  • Maintain a US-specific backlog tied directly to the company-wide product and business backlog — you decide what gets done, in what order, and why.
  • Translate strategic goals into concrete workstreams across teams; follow through until delivered.
  • Report regularly to global leadership on progress, blockers, and performance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with US regulatory bodies, ensuring ongoing compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with financial institutions, regulators, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Lead high-level external discussions with partners, authorities, and third parties.
  • Partner closely with Legal and Compliance to navigate the US regulatory landscape.
  • Leverage an existing network and build new relationships to support Mercuryo's US expansion.
  • Identify and pursue partnerships and business opportunities aligned with growth objectives.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and in media — positioning Mercuryo as a credible player in the US crypto and fintech space.
  • Coordinate contributors from Product, Legal, Compliance, BD, and Operations around shared US priorities — you may not manage all of them directly, but you own the outcomes.
  • Assign tasks, set deadlines, track delivery, and intervene fast when something isn't working.
  • Foster a "roll-up-your-sleeves" culture where everyone, including you, stays close to the actual work.
  • Mentor team members and help them grow within a fast-moving environment.
  • Oversee the operational setup of the US entity: staffing, infrastructure, tooling, and vendor relationships.
  • Negotiate contracts with third-party service providers and manage SLAs.
  • Implement scalable processes that can grow with the business.
  • Build and manage the US budget; ensure financial discipline and hit targets.
  • Track KPIs and provide regular performance reports to global leadership.
