About The Position

Alro Steel is seeking a Counter Salesperson/Material Handler to join its Metals Outlet team in Elkhart, Indiana. The position combines customer service and material handling in a team-oriented environment focused on providing excellent service safely and efficiently. No experience is necessary; extensive upfront training and ongoing mentoring are provided. The role is described as 1st shift. Alro Steel supplies raw materials—including carbon and stainless steel, aluminum, and red metals—to manufacturing and other industries. The company was established in 1948 and is privately held, with more than 60 facilities across the Midwest and Southeast.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a machine shop or metal distribution.
Light machine operation experience.

Responsibilities

Answer and make customer phone calls.
Assist walk-in customers.
Provide quotes in response to email and phone inquiries.
Work with other material handlers to fill and prepare material orders for shipment.
Operate forklifts and metal saws as part of material handling.
Fulfill customer orders accurately and safely.
