About The Position

This is a front-line, clinical position providing initial intake, screening, assessment, and community treatment to groups and individuals experiencing addiction and mental health concerns. This position is primarily geared to individuals with concerns related to gambling, technology and hypersexuality, however experience in the substance use field is also required to support individual with co-occurring concerns. Requirements

  • College diploma or University degree in a related field, such as BSW, psychology, or post-graduate diploma in addiction or equivalent (primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process i.e. original degree/diploma or official transcript)
  • Current registration and in good standing with an appropriate college (OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO)
  • Experience working with individuals with problem gambling and behavioral addiction concerns, experience and comfort working with clientele with hypersexuality concerns a requirement
  • Minimum G2 licence and access to a vehicle with adequate insurance to carry out job duties
  • Current, satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly

Nice To Haves

  • First Aid & CPR, WHMIS Training
  • Training in crisis intervention and crisis resolution, including ASIST training program
  • Previous experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, and/or mental health conditions is required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience working in mental health, including a minimum of 2 years experience working in crisis intervention
  • Experience with, and detailed knowledge of, mild, moderate and serious mental illnesses
  • Experience working in a community-based setting, preferably with an established network of service and support resources

Responsibilities

  • Provide client-centred care from a harm reduction approach
  • Facilitate successful service navigation for clients through empowerment and/or advocacy
  • Share in the provision of Entry / First Contact / Intake Services
  • Provide assessment, treatment planning, referral, advocacy, preliminary case management, community treatment and education as appropriate to persons who have concerns about their own behavioural addiction concerns or someone else’s. Counselling may be on an individual or group basis.
  • Participate in the facilitation of community treatment groups as needed and appropriate.
  • Provide the above-mentioned clinical services in satellite offices and other locations as designated and needed.
  • Manage and meet targets for a clinical caseload and maintain direct service requirements.
  • Engage in community development, community awareness, education and outreach as designated and appropriate, representing the agency in a professional manner. On occasion, these services may be provided outside of regular office hours.
  • Attend site meetings; Annual General Meeting and periodically scheduled strategic planning and team building events.
  • Maintain awareness of and adherence to policies and protocols as outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Support and participate in the quality enhancement activities of the team and agency.
  • Actively participate in both individual and group supervision

Benefits

  • Starting rate for this role is $30.01 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated
  • Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation
  • Grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($37.26 per hour for regulated)
  • Premiums of $2.00 will be applied for eligible Evening/Night and Weekend Shifts
  • Immediately enrolled in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
  • After a 90-day waiting period, will be enrolled in extended healthcare benefits
