About The Position

VCUarts Costume Coordinator - Department of Theatre, School of the Arts. This role assists with the general upkeep of the costume shop, daily operations, and supports VCU Theatre Productions. The position involves a set schedule of about 20 to 29 hours per week in the Theatre Department Costume Shop, located in the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts at 922 Park Ave.

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Assist with general upkeep and cleanliness of the costume shop
  • Assist with enforcing safety compliance protocols for equipment and materials in the costume shop
  • Restocking and gaining familiarity with costume stock, including maintaining the cleanliness of the costume stock
  • Facilitating rentals of costume stock and tracking those rentals
  • Assisting the costume shop manager with any tasks needed
  • Assist with the mentorship of students in the costume shop
  • Supporting VCU Theatre productions by collaborating with faculty designers, students, shop managers and technical staff to construct, alter, and fit garments for theatre productions
