About The Position

The Cost Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining cost control systems, analyzing project costs, and providing accurate financial forecasting for Primoris Energy Services projects in Hubbard, Texas. This role ensures projects are completed within budget and financial targets are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in cost engineering, cost control, or project controls within the energy, oil & gas, or heavy industrial construction sectors.
  • Proven experience with cost control software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, EcoSys).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office Suite applications.
  • Thorough understanding of project lifecycle, contracting strategies, and project finance principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Hubbard, Texas.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP, AACE International certifications (e.g., CCP, CCC) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain cost control systems and procedures for various energy service projects.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for all project phases, from initiation to completion.
  • Monitor project expenditures against budget, identify variances, and provide detailed variance analysis reports.
  • Track and manage project change orders, ensuring proper cost impacts are assessed and incorporated into the budget.
  • Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and other stakeholders to gather cost-related information and ensure accurate cost tracking.
  • Develop and maintain progress measurement systems to track earned value and forecast final project costs.
  • Prepare regular cost reports, cash flow projections, and other financial analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify potential cost risks and opportunities, and develop mitigation strategies or capitalize on cost-saving initiatives.
  • Review contractor invoices and progress payments to ensure accuracy and adherence to contract terms.
  • Assist in the development of project schedules and resource loaded schedules to support cost control efforts.
