About The Position

As a Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate II at CarMax, you’ll help deliver best-in-class vehicles by performing cosmetic inspections, final quality checks, and advanced reconditioning tasks such as paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing. The work ensures vehicles meet CarMax standards for quality and appearance and are ready for customers.

The role follows standardized reconditioning processes at an established pace, identifies defects and suitable repair methods, and supports auction preparation and vehicle movement on and off the lot. Associates provide customer service, collaborate with teammates, comply with Environmental, Health and Safety requirements, and keep the work area clean and orderly.

Requirements

• Complete all CarMax training programs, including online and hands-on modules.
• Ability to read, interpret, and accurately record data for inventory and quality control.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual tasks for extended periods.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
• Willingness to work indoors and outdoors, including in inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized cosmetic reconditioning processes at an established pace while maintaining efficiency and quality.
• Perform advanced cosmetic repairs, including paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing.
• Complete cosmetic and final quality inspections to ensure vehicles meet customer-ready standards.
• Identify defects and determine appropriate repair methods.
• Support auction preparation and assist with vehicle movement on and off the lot.
• Deliver customer service and collaborate with team members to achieve goals.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety requirements and maintain a clean, orderly work area.

Benefits

• Up to 48 hours of sick time per year, accrued each pay period, for eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive associates.
• Between 80 and 200 hours of vacation per year after a 90-day waiting period, based on years of continuous service, for eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive associates.
• Eight hours of pay for each of six scheduled paid holidays per year, plus one floating holiday, for eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive associates.
• Holiday Premium Pay when eligible associates work a scheduled holiday due to business need.
• Paid time away with no specified limit as needed for eligible full-time salaried associates, subject to manager approval.
