About The Position

As a Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate II at CarMax, you perform cosmetic inspections, final quality checks, and advanced reconditioning work to help ensure vehicles meet CarMax’s quality and appearance standards. Tasks include paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing, as well as identifying defects and determining appropriate repair methods. The role also supports auction preparation and vehicle movement on and off the lot. Associates follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety requirements and keep their work area clean and orderly.

Requirements

• Complete all CarMax training programs, including online and hands-on modules.
• Read, interpret, and accurately record data for inventory and quality control.
• Perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and perform manual tasks for extended periods.
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Work indoors and outdoors, including in inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized cosmetic reconditioning processes at an established pace while maintaining efficiency and quality.
• Perform advanced cosmetic repairs, including paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing.
• Complete cosmetic and final quality inspections to ensure vehicles meet customer-ready standards.
• Identify defects and determine the best repair methods.
• Support auction preparation and assist with moving vehicles on and off the lot.
• Deliver customer service and collaborate with team members to achieve goals.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Benefits

• Up to 48 hours of sick time per year, accrued per pay period, for eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates.
• Between 80 and 200 hours of vacation time per year after a 90-day waiting period, depending on years of continuous service, for eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates.
• Eight hours of pay for each of six scheduled paid holidays per year, plus one floating holiday, for eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates.
• Holiday Premium Pay when eligible associates work on a scheduled holiday due to business need.
• Paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick time, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, and floating holidays, subject to manager approval, for full-time salaried associates.
