About The Position

As a Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate II at CarMax, you will help deliver customer-ready vehicles by performing cosmetic inspections, final quality checks, and advanced reconditioning work, including paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing. The role supports CarMax's quality and appearance standards so customers can feel confident in their purchases.

You will follow established reconditioning processes and work at a pace that maintains efficiency and quality. You will identify defects, choose appropriate repair methods, support auction preparation, and help move vehicles on and off the lot. You will also provide customer service, collaborate with team members, follow Environmental, Health and Safety requirements, and keep your work area clean and orderly.

The position is located at CarMax's Clearwater location in Clearwater, Florida. The hourly rate is $19.19. CarMax describes itself as the nation's largest used-car retailer, with over 250 store locations and over 30,000 associates.

Requirements

• Complete all CarMax training programs, including online and hands-on modules.
• Ability to read, interpret, and accurately record data for inventory and quality control.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual tasks for extended periods.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
• Willingness to work indoors and outdoors, including in inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized cosmetic reconditioning processes at an established pace while maintaining efficiency and quality.
• Perform advanced cosmetic repairs, including paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing.
• Complete cosmetic and final quality inspections to ensure vehicles meet customer-ready standards.
• Identify defects and determine appropriate repair methods.
• Support auction preparation and assist with moving vehicles on and off the lot.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and collaborate with team members to achieve goals.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Benefits

• Full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates can accrue up to 48 hours of sick time per year.
• Full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates receive 80 to 200 hours of vacation time per year after a 90-day waiting period, depending on years of continuous service.
• Eight hours of pay for each of six scheduled paid holidays per year, plus one floating holiday.
• Holiday Premium Pay may be available when an associate works on a scheduled holiday due to business need.
• Full-time salaried associates receive paid time away as needed for sick time, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, and floating holidays, subject to manager approval.
