About The Position

The COS Material Handler I receives, fills, and ships products accurately and efficiently, ensures products are available for order fulfillment, and completes required paperwork. The role may include receiving, order fulfillment, product picking, wrapping and packing, stock replenishment, customer will call, and inventory cycle counts. It uses powered warehouse equipment to handle products and maintain accurate storage and stock levels. The position also supports safe warehouse operations, follows standard procedures, maintains required certifications, and communicates professionally with customers and coworkers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, 0–1 year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Forklift certification, or willingness to obtain it on the job.
• Ability to read and perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to work safely, follow instructions and procedures, organize and prioritize work, attend to details, work in a team environment, and complete routine paperwork.
• Ability to use necessary technology, including RF equipment and ERP software.
• English proficiency in written and spoken communication.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver large or heavy products or equipment while following established safety guidelines.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using a picker, forklift, RF scanner, and inventory management systems.
• Knowledge of the HVAC wholesale industry, principles, and practices.
• Previous experience with OSHA and safety regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate power equipment, such as electric pallet jacks, walkie riders, and sit-down forklifts, to locate, store, stack, and move products safely.
• Stock products, fill bin boxes, face cartons, check for product mixing, rotate products as needed, monitor stock, replenish shelves or bins from reserves, and maintain control of reserve and will-call inventory.
• Receive products by unloading trucks with forklifts, pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, or by hand.
• Inspect received freight for damage, verify quantities against orders and packing lists, sign freight bills, and complete paperwork for discrepancies or reimbursements.
• Verify product barcode labels and Johnstone stock numbers by scanning products, printing labels, resolving discrepancies, and completing paperwork.
• Fulfill orders by picking and scanning products, packing cartons, stacking items to minimize damage, and completing paperwork.
• Label hazardous-material cartons correctly and complete required shipping documentation.
• Prepare shipments by preparing trucks, palletizing and wrapping orders, loading pallets and pieces into trucks, and placing packing lists in the last skid.
• Meet accuracy and efficiency standards and follow standard operating procedures.
• Participate in inventory cycle counts and other assigned projects.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and equipment; follow safety rules and promptly report safety or maintenance concerns.
• Wear protective equipment in accordance with company policies and procedures and access MSDS as needed.
• Maintain required hazardous-material, forklift, and other internal and external certifications.
• Communicate professionally and courteously with customers and coworkers.
• Perform other duties as assigned and provide services as needed to support company success.
