About The Position

This position is for a Corrector for the Introduction to Business Management course (ADM1100/1300) at the Telfer School of Management for the Fall 2026 semester. The role involves marking individual case studies, quizzes, and the final exam. The total work hours for this position are 41. The hourly rate is $30.53 for undergraduate students and $36.63 for graduate students (2024-2025 rates). These rates do not include vacation or statutory pay and will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified, with retroactivity paid after ratification. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31. The work is to be performed on the Main Campus.

Requirements

  • Minimum C.G.P.A. of 8.0
  • Minimum grade of A- in ADM 1300 or its equivalent
  • Must have a minimum of two years' business education at the post-secondary level, emphasizing the principles of management, of business ownership, and general finance and accounting practices
  • A thorough working knowledge of solving a business case
  • Experience in analyzing business case
  • Able to integrate and apply concepts of business and management in practical ways, including using case studies, in working with first year BCom students
  • A constructive, helpful, and inclusive attitude and approach with the community of first year students
  • Understand and read in English and write and teach in English with confidence -- all at a very high level of fluency
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A good understanding of basic Canadian accounting and financial management analysis skills
  • Successful completion and comprehension of the material of an introductory level business management course in a Canadian environment
  • A good knowledge of current business issues and approaches to management
  • Must be located in Ottawa for the entire duration of the course (with the exception of official University holidays), including through the grading of the final exam and calculation of final grades by the professor.
  • Access to a computer, internet, microphone and webcam.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with online course delivery considered an asset
  • Experience with online videoconferencing environment considered an asset (ex. Microsoft Teams)
  • Preference will be given to candidates enrolled in Telfer programs
  • Preference will be given to higher grades
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have previously been teaching assistants or markers for ADM1300 (or equivalent)
  • Preference will also be given to students who have participated in projects, contests and competitions at the university level
