About The Position

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the Corrections Specialist Assistant position at Clallam Bay Corrections Center. Clallam Bay Corrections Center is a 900-bed male correctional facility located on the point of the Olympic Peninsula. It is 50 miles west of Port Angeles and looks out over the Strait of Juan de Fuca at Vancouver Island. This facility houses medium and close custody incarcerated individuals. CBCC also operates a Restricted Housing Unit. Whether the work is inside a prison, in community corrections, or in an administrative office, the Washington State Department of Corrections professional staff experience a high degree of personal satisfaction knowing they are creating environments in which all incarcerated individuals can learn to make choices that contribute to a safer society.

Requirements

  • High school diploma OR Equivalent
  • Ability to type 50 words per minute
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and data entry programs.
  • Able to take and pass the Disciplinary Hearing Officer Training.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years experiences working with or around incarcerated individuals.
  • Knowledgeable with Washington Administrative Code (WAC), the Revised Code of Washington (RCWs), and policies relating to prison discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve infractions from depositories daily.
  • Enter the infraction into the electronic record.
  • Build the hearing packet for service to the accused.
  • Assign the hearing to an appropriate Disciplinary Hearing Officer.
  • Independently review for incarcerated individual receipt of service and post-service requests.
  • Independently determine whether to obtain witness statements.
  • Independently monitor and file continuances for due/overdue hearings.
  • Schedule hearing and create a callout.
  • Review the Hearings Packet ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared.
  • Create the serious Infraction Report and route to the Superintendent/Designee for final review.
  • Receive and process appeals, from receipt to filing.
  • Redact reports in accordance with policy requirements.
