About The Position

Corrections Services Specialists provide direct supervision of Incarcerated Individuals in a correctional facility. In this role, you'll help prepare for their future release back to the community when eligible. Corrections Service Specialist work closely with local probation offices, courts, law enforcement agencies and other state agencies to get services for incarcerated Individuals. You will also make referrals for programming and classifications for incarcerated individuals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • High school graduation or equivalent AND EITHER four (4) years or more of experience in a role assigned to work directly with a client population in a human services setting on a full-time basis OR four (4) years or more in a protective services or correctional setting.
  • Two (2) years or more of college coursework in a human services or criminal justice field and EITHER two (2) years or more of experience in a role assigned to work directly with a client population in a human services setting on a full-time basis OR two (2) years or more in a protective services or correctional setting.
  • Must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
  • Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
  • A criminal background check will be performed prior to hire.
  • Candidates who have any felony conviction record or who, within the past five (5) years, have been placed under supervision or sanctioned for a misdemeanor conviction must receive a waiver from the Commissioner of Corrections in order to be considered for employment.
