Requirements
- One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Persons seeking employment under the four years of experience option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.
Responsibilities
- Supervise officers, review performance, and provide training that supports safe institutional practices
- Plan schedules, direct inmate movement, and maintain required operational reports
- Conduct tours, observe inmate behavior, and address concerns within assigned units
- Process commitments, oversee inmate transports, and inspect vehicles and materials for security risks
- Investigate violations, recommend discipline, and participate in formal review sessions
- Respond to emergencies and support established procedures for crisis prevention
