Requirements

One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility.
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
Must be able to perform essential job functions.
Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

Persons seeking employment under the 'Four years of experience in corrections security work' option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.

Responsibilities

Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
Organize schedules and plan inmate movements to maintain controlled daily operations
Inspect housing areas, observe inmate behavior, and respond to concerns to support stability
Manage inmate transports, process new commitments, and supervise vehicle and visitor inspections
Conduct investigations, issue discipline, and participate in grievance reviews to uphold standards
Respond to emergencies with steady judgment to support intervention and prevention
