About The Position

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. The Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is recruiting to fill a part-time Corrections Nurse 1/2 position located in Kenai at the Kenai Peninsula Youth Facility. Under the supervision of higher-level nurses, and in accordance with an established training plan, the Corrections Nurse 1/2 (CN 1/2) performs developmental duties independently assessing, monitoring, and maintaining the physical well-being of the residents at the Kenai Peninsula Youth Facility, a 24-hour secure facility. The CN 1/2 provides direct care within their scope of practice and utilizes medical protocols, when necessary and available, to meet the health needs of the residents. When medical conditions are beyond their scope or protocols, the CN 1/2 refers the resident to a higher level of care. This is a flexibly staffed CN 1/2 position. The CN 1 incumbent, upon completing the probationary period and acquiring the necessary competencies through the training plan, may progress to a CN 2. The Division of Juvenile Justice's mission is to hold juvenile offenders accountable for their behavior through Restorative Justice; promote the safety and restoration of victims and communities; and assist offenders and their families in developing the skills to prevent crime. Our core values include: Prioritizing Safety, Responsiveness, Professional Relationships, Dedication, and Respect. The work of a Corrections Nurse 1/2 includes promoting these values through direct medical care of juveniles in the Division’s custody.
