About The Position
As a Corrections Maintenance Foreman with the Department of Corrections (DOC), you play an important role in keeping the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix running smoothly every day. You oversee inmate work crews, guide repairs and improvements, and support skilled trades work throughout the facility. Your leadership helps maintain dependable operations and encourages productive teamwork among staff and inmates. Requirements
- Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee inmate work crews performing maintenance, repair, construction, and janitorial tasks
- Plan daily schedules, assign tasks, and inspect completed work assignments
- Teach proper operation and preventative maintenance of machinery and vehicles
- Perform or assist with semi-skilled and skilled trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and welding
- Issue, track, and inventory tools and materials while conducting searches to ensure accountability
