About The Position
As a Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager 1 with the Department of Corrections (DOC), you will take on a leadership role that supports the secure and steady operation of the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix. This position places you at the center of facility maintenance, where you supervise staff, coordinate repairs, and guide on-the-job training programs. Requirements
- Two years of experience as a Building Maintenance Foreman, Utility Plant Supervisor, or Corrections Tradesman Instructor (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) with a specialty in one of the trades of Carpentry, Electrical, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, Machinist, Welding, Painting, Automotive, Electronics, or Masonry; or Six years of experience in the construction, maintenance or repair of buildings; or the operation, maintenance and repair of utility services equipment, including two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Supervise maintenance staff, coordinating repairs, and supporting the safe operation of the facility.
- Plan daily work, manage resources, and ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Organize work schedules, assign tasks, and prepare budgets that reflect facility goals.
- Direct maintenance and trades employees, plan orientation and training sessions, and review performance.
- Prepare inventories, track assignments, and maintain required records and documents.
- Inspect work areas, check equipment, and ensure adherence to safety standards and procedures.
- Act as Duty Officer, manage after-hours issues, and address urgent facility needs.
- Review requests for tools, supplies, and equipment, ensuring proper justification and use.
