About The Position

The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated person with the required experience to work as a Corrections Food Service Instructor. Requirements

Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
Must be able to perform essential job functions.
Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

Teach inmates proper methods for food preparation, production, and service
Maintain safe and sanitary operations including the use of tools and equipment, cleaning, maintenance, and storage practices
Ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner and according to established recipes
Inspect food service areas, equipment, and food to ensure compliance with established standards and requirements
Review census and menu data, adjust recipes accordingly, manage supplies, and follow first-in, first-out procedures
Plan work assignments, complete performance evaluations, and maintain worker records
