Requirements

  • One year of food service experience or training in an institutional, hospital, military, or commercial food service operation; OR Twelve semester hours in food and nutrition, dietetics, or institutional management.
  • Must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c).
  • Must possess a valid Louisiana Driver's License.
  • Must clear a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and serve meals in accordance with facility menus and dietary guidelines
  • Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, dining, and storage areas
  • Supervise youth assigned to food service duties, ensuring safety and compliance
  • Operate kitchen equipment and follow institutional food safety protocols
  • Assist with inventory, storage, and portion control
  • Uphold confidentiality, mandatory reporting, and trauma-informed care standards
  • Participate in PREA training and other required onboarding programs
