About The Position
This position supports the food service operations of SCI Fayette by leading inmate workers and guiding their vocational development. The work helps keep daily meal service running smoothly while building skills that support inmate progress.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Teach inmates how to prepare, cook, bake, and serve meals in a safe and orderly environment
- Inspect work areas and equipment to ensure they meet safety and sanitation standards
- Review menus, adjust recipes, and manage food storage and inventory to reduce waste
- Assign tasks, review work performance, and maintain accurate inmate worker records
- Maintain care, custody, and control of inmates during daily food service activities
