About The Position
The Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager 1 with the Department of Corrections plays a central role in managing maintenance work that supports facility safety and stability. This role allows you to shape procedures, guide staff, and oversee important projects. It offers a rewarding path for someone who enjoys responsibility and working with a team! This position oversees facility maintenance operations and guides staff who complete daily repair, construction, and training tasks within the institution.
Requirements
- Two years of experience as a Building Maintenance Foreman, Utility Plant Supervisor, or Corrections Tradesman Instructor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) with a specialty in one of the trades of Carpentry, Electrical, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, Machinist, Welding, Painting, Automotive, Electronics, or Masonry; or Six years of experience in the construction, maintenance or repair of buildings; or the operation, maintenance and repair of utility services equipment, including two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate routine operations for maintenance and trades tasks
- Provide direction, training, and review of staff and inmate worker performance
- Maintain reports, inventories, and personnel records in line with facility standards
- Inspect work areas and equipment to meet safety rules and respond to emergencies
- Monitor tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure security and proper use
