About The Position

This position is located at Caswell Correctional Center and is assigned to the medium custody facility, which houses and provides services for 484 offenders and has 155 staff. The role provides first-line supervision of Correctional Officer II employees in a medium custody facility, ensuring offender custody, security, and welfare and compliance with agency policies and procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED and two years and six months of experience as a Correctional Officer, or two years of experience as a Correctional Officer II, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.
Must meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302).
Must pass a criminal background check and produce a negative drug screening result.
Must successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Documented knowledge of prison policies and procedures and/or facility operations.

Responsibilities

Supervise correctional officer activities and performance and ensure the custody, security, and welfare of offenders are maintained.
Conduct shift line-ups, assign duty areas and posts, and inspect personnel to determine whether they are physically and mentally capable of assuming their assigned posts.
Complete, review, and maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
Account for assigned personnel and ensure equipment is operationally ready and policies and procedures are followed in accordance with NCDAC.
