About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Correctional Food Service Supervisor II to report to the Correctional Food Service Manager at Warren Correctional Institution, a medium custody male correctional facility. This role involves supervising Correctional Food Service Officers and offenders in large-scale food production, including the preparation and service of regular and therapeutic diets. Responsibilities include planning, directing, and supervising daily food preparation and serving, maintaining accurate records, utilizing computerized food and nutrition systems, and conducting employee work appraisals. Additional duties encompass food preparation, serving, storage, menu planning, menu substitutions, and maintaining sanitation requirements.

Requirements

  • High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operations, or as a Correctional Officer, OR two years as a Correctional Food Service Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
  • Must meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Produce a negative drug screening result
  • Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
  • Possess a valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Documented experience in sanitation, preparing menus, managing inventory, and/or other large-scale food service production activities.
  • Documented supervision of employees and/or offender workers.

Responsibilities

  • Providing supervision of Correctional Food Service Officers.
  • Providing oversight of offenders performing large-scale food production.
