About The Position

This position reports to the Correctional Food Service Manager I and is located in the Food Service department of a minimum custody, male correctional facility. The job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, providing supervision for Correctional Food Service Officers, providing oversight of offenders performing large-scale food production functions, and supervising the preparation and service of regular and therapeutic diets for the offender population. The role involves planning, directing, and supervising the daily preparation and serving of food to offenders, ensuring accurate and timely record keeping, and utilizing computerized food and nutrition systems. Additionally, the position requires conducting employee evaluations and completing duties related to food preparation, serving, storage, menu planning, menu substitutions, and maintaining sanitation requirements.

Requirements

  • High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND two years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operations, OR as a Correctional Officer, or one year as a Correctional Food Service Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
