About The Position

This position is located at Wilkes Correctional Center in Wilkes County, NC. Wilkes Correctional Center is a minimum custody male facility. Reporting to the Correctional Housing Unit Manager II, this position provides supervision for subordinate officers regarding their assigned tasks with male inmates in a Minimum/Medium/Close custody state correctional facility.

Requirements

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience as a correctional officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
Pass a criminal background check
Produce a negative drug screening result
Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
Possess a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

Conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments, and inspecting personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post
Supervising and assigning subordinate officers to a particular area or post.
Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
Accounting for persons and funds to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready.
Responsible for subordinate officers' activities relating to the custody and welfare of offenders.
Working rotating and various duty assignments within the defined level of work.
