About The Position

Under the supervision of the Deputy Warden - Facility Services, the Correctional Case Manager performs duties related to inmate classification, assignment, and work-release coordination. The role also facilitates and monitors inmates’ re-entry into the community. The position is performed onsite at the Blair County Prison.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of work experience, including at least six months in adult or juvenile corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or another directly related field.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and no motor vehicle record infractions that would prevent hire.
• Ability to work well with a diverse population.
• Strong interpersonal relations and communication skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to unexpected situations.
• Self-motivation and ability to remain productive when working alone.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Regular presence at work site(s).

Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned caseload.
• Process applications and conduct eligibility interviews.
• Determine appropriate placements for inmates in available programs.
• Create work schedules and coordinate transportation.
• Prepare court orders.
• Perform periodic observed drug screens.
• Provide training and referrals for job-readiness and job-search skills.
• Prepare inmates for re-entry into society.
• Generate and update records and reports.
• Support the Deputy Warden - Facility Services and collaborate with three other correctional case managers.
• Participate in meetings.
• Establish rapport with community organizations.
• Enforce facility rules in a firm and fair manner.
