Reporting to a Correctional Programs Supervisor at a minimum custody female correctional facility, this position works in the Programs Department carrying a caseload of offenders. Other duties of this position include, but are not limited to, providing supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answering and following-up on offenders’ questions and concerns as well as making recommendations to the classifications committee. This role requires communicating effectively with other staff, offenders and the general public and working under stressful conditions caused by direct contact with incarcerated offenders, who can become physically violent and verbally abusive. Performing crisis interventions to include suicide prevention is also a key responsibility. The position assists in major dynamic programs or coordinates major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders, such as offender work assignments, work release, education or recreation, as well as transition planning and coordinating. Preparing written reports with accurately reflect date reviewed by various sources, reviewing, analyzing and evaluating various documents and behavior data gathered form interviews, written documentation and personal observation are also part of the duties.
