About The Position

This position is responsible for creating and overseeing the implementation of a strategic approach to increase fundraising results through major gifts, corporate donations, grant solicitation, direct mail, special events, community relations and in-kind resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a comprehensive development program with progressively responsible experience and demonstrated success.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement an annual fund development plan, including individual and organizational goals and strategies.
  • Evaluate and report on fundraising activities monthly to ensure goals are being achieved.
  • Develop and maintain committees of the Advisory Board (Community Relations & Development, Marketing and Public Relations, Bequest and Endowment).
  • Support divisional Planned Giving and Resource Development programs.
  • Monitor community trends and adapt fundraising strategies.
  • Cultivate existing funding resources and secure new opportunities.
  • Manage and oversee three major annual fundraising events: Golf tournament, Annual Dinner, and Kettle breakfast.
  • Develop and manage timelines for fundraising activities.
  • Develop procedures for the development department reflecting ethical fundraising practices.
  • Prepare and submit grant applications.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of special fundraising events.
  • Identify and develop a personal portfolio of at least 20 corporate, community, and/or individual prospects for a moves management system.
  • Meet or surpass an annual fundraising goal from major gift efforts.
  • Manage a portfolio of the top 10 prospects and donors for the Corps Officer’s involvement.
  • Staff the Bequest and Endowment Committee of the Advisory Board.
  • Increase overall revenue on an annual basis.
  • Oversee the administration of a donor mailing list and Inter-Change, respecting privacy and confidentiality.
  • Work with direct mail vendors on all aspects of direct mail, including calendar, appeals, approvals, and reporting.
  • Enter and record all gifts and donor interactions in Inter-Change in a timely and proper manner.
  • Manage the acknowledgement program to provide a high level of donor relations.
  • Coordinate in-kind donations and make decisions regarding receipt issuance.
  • Manage the United Way application process and follow-up.
  • Engage volunteers for special fund development projects.
  • Assist the Corps Officer in staffing the Advisory Organizations.
  • Develop and submit an annual revenue and expenditure budget for the fund development program.
  • Monitor expenses and analyze budget reports, recommending changes as necessary.
  • Foster an understanding of philanthropy within the organization.
  • Develop a comprehensive communication and marketing plan to promote the organization and public awareness of fundraising activities and the value of the Family Thrift Store.
  • Coordinate the design, printing, and distribution of marketing and communication materials.
  • Produce an annual report.
  • Build relationships with community stakeholders.
  • Produce and distribute a minimum of 12 press releases.
  • Manage the Corps website and social media program.
