About The Position

The Corporate Tax Intern will assist UMB’s in-house Corporate Tax department with tax return compliance, accounting for income taxes, information reporting, and tax research. The position offers students experience with the work of a Corporate Tax department at a diverse financial institution. The team focuses on minimizing the corporate tax burden while maintaining compliance with tax laws, producing workpapers and supporting documentation, and sharing knowledge through collaborative work and discussions. The internship runs from late May to late July. It is a full-time hybrid position, with remote work on Fridays and in-office work Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The role was posted on 11/04/2026, and the application deadline is 45 days after the posting date unless the position is filled earlier.

Requirements

Have completed at least two years of an undergraduate program in Accounting; a tax specialty is preferred.
Have strong teamwork and communication skills and a desire to learn more about Corporate Tax.

Interest in pursuing public accounting and/or sitting for the CPA exam.

Responsibilities

Assist with preparing federal, state, and local income tax returns.
Participate in tax planning projects and other tax-related initiatives.
Perform tax research on federal and state tax issues.
Assist with tax provision calculations and analysis under ASC 740.
Design or modify Excel worksheets for current-year tax data or special projects.
Prepare local city and county business licenses.
